Motorola Milestone released locally

MTN have "had" this on their site for a long time. They look at you as if you are crazy when you ask for it though.

You know what - this is a perfect example of Motorola doing too little, too late. If they had released this months ago when the droid was released in the states, I woulda bought it in a heart beat. But now with HTC's Desire and the new Iphone - why would I buy this? Yes the form factor is different but not enough to convince me away from HTC's phones or the new iphone.

This better be priced way below the new droid htc phones! Plus according to gizmodo the touch screen on this really sucks ass.

+1

Yip, it's coming apparently next month to MTN (sorry, if mentioned above, only scanned through the posts).

I've been waiting since October last year, and was ready to buy online (just like I did with my Motorola Ming), but since I'm due for an upgrade end of August, I'm gonna wait it out.

South Africans seem so gullable when it comes to technology...Motorola phones (in my opinion) are actually amazing if you have some brains.

Damn, I'm so tempted to just get it now!

Are we going to get a crappy branded one (well, partly branded, MTN like putting on their own MTN bootlogo)?
Oh well, I suppose I'm going to change everything anyways..

Most of the reviews are good, but I've also read some horror stories on a few overseas forums. But that could be just some bugs that can probably be fixed by software upgrades.

However I've always been amazed at the solid build quality of Motorola phones, but the Moto user interface sucks. But the Milestone is different simply because it has Android, which promises a solid user experience.

I think I'll wait to hear from some of the local users before I get one, but I am tempted to get one now, my upgrade is due.

Let us know if you get one :)

I was just at MTN in Somerset West to find out about upgrading now already (my early upgrade date is end of August), but sounds like it's going to be a hefty amount since I'm obligated to pay until December.

Well, just as I'd heard, the phone is only available in May...so you Joburgers are lucky then.

Im so excited, just on Saturday i had given up and thought id have to save up for the heavy and bricky N900,which would be overpriced and have awful batt life.
Anyway, anybody know if the Milestone will be available on VodaCom and on what packages?
