Motorola Milestone?

How long does the battery on the Milestone last?
I charged mine fully at lunch time yesterday & it was at 25% by 10pm. Switched the phone off at 10, now it wont come on this morning. Had it plugged to the wall charger for 20 minutes now!, still no signs of life :(

I don't get a full 2 days out of mine, but it lasts longer than a day with my usage. Normally I charge it in the evenings before bed or in the mornings while I prepare for work. Or even leave it on the whole night, if it's really low. Also, the battery may take a few charging cycles to operate at full efficiency.

You will have to find out what uses battery power as well. You can do this by going to Menu -> Settings -> About Phone -> Battery Usage. There you can get an idea of what is using the battery.

Put the Power Control Widget on your home screen. You can switch things like bluetooth on and off with a single button there.

im really freaking out here, the phone is still not showing any signs of life!

the only thing i see is the little light at the USB port when the cable is plugged in, other than that, nothing, not even the icon on the screen to say how far the charging is!

Does anything happen if you hold the power button in for a few seconds? Perhaps take out the battery and re-insert it. You should be getting something if you charged it for an hour (from your first post)

Could it be that the screen is in sleep mode? What happens if you just briefly press the power button?

If you got it from MTN, return it.

this is what i did so far :

- tried using USB charging & plug charging - nothing
- removed and replaced battery & retried - nothing
- removed memory card & sim card & replcaed - nothing
- the screen is not in standby mode cos i pressed the power button till my fingers hurt.
- is there anyway to hard reset the unit? with a combination of button presses ( I googled & found 'left-shift , right-alt , & del' but this did nothing.

Im taking the thing back to MTN at lunch time, cos its only 2 days that I got it.
Whats their Out of Box Failure policy like, will they swop it then-and-there or will I have to wait for weeks?

ok, so now its charing, but it wont switch on, & it wont charge via USB only plug.....is this normal?

I charge mine on the included cradle/dock or whatever they call it, so not sure how it behaves without it.

It's possible you may need some drivers on your computer before the charging cycle will work properly via USB. I didn't, and I don't see why, but it has been mentioned on the Motorola support forums as a possible solution. Leave it to charge for 4 hours, then see if it switches on. If not, I would recommend you go back to your MTN shop for assistance. It may be that the unit is faulty.

embarrased - damn 2 pin plugs!
It obviously was'nt sitting correctly in the socket :O
I found a 2 to 3 pin adapter & it works

But I think that when the battery is very low the USB charger does not work, nor does the phone come on (even whilst charging). it only came on when the battery icon showed it past 25%,

OK back to the app store :)

Thanks guys for the input...

Mine cuts out at 5%, and switches back on when it's above 5%. However, the battery icon confuses me, it looks higher than it really is. Right now mine is at 70% but it looks like almost full from the icon. I installed BatteryLife to show this for me in a better graphical way.

And yes, I agree about the 2-point plug. WAY too easy to dislodge. I ended up with a dead phone in the mornings a few times due to this. I use the USB docking station to charge it now.

Is ther anyway to make the Milestone take sharper pics, any hacks like with the SE Cybershot phones?

The camera & battery is the only things I dislike about this phone, everything else is tops.

Does anyone have Ndrive or Copilot working on the Milestone?

I used the NDrive trial on mine, and it worked well for me for the 7 days. Currently I am considering buying either that or a standalone unit, still weighing the pro's and cons of each.

Did you get the docking station with your contract?

Yes, I did.
