My current Moto X Play has finally succumbed to wear-and-tear with the screen smashing on a recent drop. I've had this phone for about 5 years and it's been the best phone I've ever had - so many others seem to deteriorate in performance over time, but this one has been as solid as the day I bought it. I also love the clean Android install, and so Motorola have a new fan.

I'm looking for the best android from I can get for R4.5-R5k. I'll take advice on any but I'm eyeing out:

- Motorola One Action
- Motorola One Vision
- LG G& ThinQ

I'm particularly not sure about the latter phone so would value opinions from anyone who has had it? Then, where can I buy the Moto phones?? Ive only found one site where I have to have it imported.

I had a LG G3 for a while, but been having some frustrations with it after a year (Phone heating up, bad battery life, etc) - As for the G8, not sure how good the device is.
ConnectedDevices seems like to be sold out on the two Moto's you're looking for.

interesting. The G7 looked like a potentially good phone and was in budget for the 64gb version. ConnectedDevices is the only place i can find to get Moto phones. I really miss the Orange stores :/
 
I have had 3 Motos. Moto Style, Moto G 4G, Moto G4 Play. Still have the latter 2.

All served me well. first 2 I got from Orange, last was from Vodacom at like R60pm. Sadly they have become more scarce since then.
 
Just gave away the old moto g 4g today. Had a crack but still worked fine.
 
Back on Motorola after many years. Seems only Pep Cell sells them, picked up a moto g14 for R2200.

Saw that too. Good on Pep, hopefully, others will follow.

Reminds of the days I had the first razr and then the second one, the V8.

Yeah - I was pretty surprised and happy to see that the ones sold here actually does have NFC. Did not realise how dependant I have become on NFC payments.

Initial impression :

Apart from that the moto g14 is more or less the same as the Note 9T it replaces. Minus 5G and a more stipped down "google-ish" UI. Flippit one thing that irritate me is on MIUI it was smart enough to hide the clock in the notification bar when there is a clock widget on the screen. Not so on the moto - flippen basics people - get it right! Then again at the price what can you expect, it's just another budget android - exactly what I was after.

Also the processor, Unisoc Tiger, that sounds like it was inspired by a cheap pickup line. "Tiger, put a unisoc on your unicock before we get too kwaaiger. " :laugh:

Camera seems pretty decent, yet the manufacturer is unknown, you are not getting Samsung or Sony at this price point.

Low light is decent if you can hold it still.

Macro is OK, a tad better than the 2mp on the Note 9T but still 2mp...

Landscape images is sub-par to unacceptable; I am pretty sure my Redmi A1 does a better job with its 8mp sensor....

The first Motorola I owned was the G3 which had a camera miracle, it shot incredible images with its Sony sensor. That was a long time ago and apart from the price and spec level this moto g14 does not have a lot going for it.
