Hi All,

I have just got my fresh new Motorola Q9h, and I am trying to use it as an HSDPA/3G/GPRS modem on my Macbook. Unfortunately, i have failed to get a working modem script for it. I found a few scripts at http://www.taniwha.org.uk/ (for Motorola 3G and HSDPA phones), however, none of them works.

My question is - has anyone successfully tethered the Moto Q9h to their Mac? If yes, could you please kindly send me the script you are using, or any special hacks to the available scripts?

Thanks

As an update to this thread, I am now successfully using Bluetooth PAN and all looks good. However, I would still love to get a modem script, as bluetooth uses much power. I would prefer to tether using a USB cable.

How did you get it to work

How did you get it to work with Bluetooth PAN, I'm in the same situation, I have a moto q9h and osx. I think my settings are wrong, i have the correct apn and username and password, but osx gives me a "modem error".... Can you reply with the working settings you used on the phone and osx. Thanks

It is actually a faily easy procedure:

1. On the phone, enable "Internet Connection Sharing", and this should also automatically enable bluetooth.

2. On the Mac, setup a bluetooth device, and follow the usual procedure. On the modem settings while finishing the bluetooth procedure, just enter anything, as this is not the way you will access anyway.

3. On "bluetooth", click "connect to AABBCC" where AABBCC is the name of your phone (bluetooth).

That is it.

If the "connect to.." option is not available on your bluetooth menu, chances are that you did not enable all options while pairing your phone with the Mac (especially the setting on the phone that enbles the Mac to conenct to the net using the phone). You will then hav eto repeat the process.

and to further clarify - bluetooth PAN works independently of the modem on the q9h, so, no need for a modem script or to go to the modem or ppp settings on the mac to establish a connection. just click on "bluetooth" and "connect to.."

Please use Bluetooth PAN. It works perfectly. No need for fancy modem scripts.
