I am considering acquiring the Moto Smart Tag, from overseas. Similar to Galaxy SmartTag and Tile trackers.

Is it currently a good idea. Will I get most of the benefits here in SA?

I am an Android Pixel user and have seen the usefulness of the Apple AirTag to friends with iOS devices.

Using Google Find My Device network will I get similar functionality with the Moto Tag?
Tech is UWB, Bluetooth and the Android Network.

I suggest that you try it with one Moto tag and see how it goes.

Update: I aquired the MotoTag and it does works as advertised. I am please with the results.
My phone has just Bluetooth 5.0, where as the tag uses the more advanced 5.4 for more accurate close-by direction finding.
The tag's sound alert is a bit too quiet, but not a deal breaker.
I believe the Andriod Find My Device crowdsourced network of devices will only improve here in ZA.

Hi! I'm looking to get one too (actually I am deciding between the Moto Tag on the Android Find My Device network and the Samsung SmartTag2 on the Samsung network)

Have you had a chance to test it when it's pinging off of other devices than your own phone? I'm curious to know how good the network is here in ZA already, as the Samsung ones already seem to work alright from what I've seen online.
