Just thought that it would be useful for the few of us who have Xooms to have a place to discuss these tablets.
I got mine some time ago, before the alternative Android tablets were available, and am still happy with my purchase.
I ordered mine from the USA. It is a 32GB wifi only model.
I got it with Honeycomb 3.0.1, and received the 3.1 update a few weeks later (over the air). When the 3.2 update came out a week or two ago, I was quite anxious to get it, and it just didn't arrive - so I downloaded 3.2 from the XDA website and did a manual update - now my SD card works.
I haven't rooted mine, haven't really had a requirement to do that, but may do it at some point. One problem is that I use the Xoom extensively for browsing, reading books (Kindle), reading newspapers (Pressreader), reading magazines (Zinnio), GPS Navigation (CoPilot SA), birding (Sasol Birds), watching movies, etc, etc, so I don't really want it out of action for any reason. I have not had any problem with Apps, there are more of them out there than I could use in a lifetime.
The Xoom is really great for travelling, with a really long battery life ! Oh, and the battery charges really fast, better than other tablets.
With 3.2 the Xoom is pretty much fully-specced, and is a nice tablet - I have no further gripes.
I do think, however, that Motorola blew the launch of this tablet, didn't market it well, and some of the features were only activated late. So I don't think that it will be a huge commercial success, in spite of it being one of the better tablets out there - maybe the best ! To put it in perspective, I have used iPads, and I don't rate them - iTunes kills the whole thing for me.
I have just received the Bluetooth keyboard for the Xoom, will try it out today. I also have the OTG USB adapter, which you need for a manual update, amongst others (BTW, a standard mouse works with the OTG adapter). I use it with a Belkin case in order to protect the screen, and also have a car charger, as well as the simple desktop stand charger (without the audio).
Any other feedback would be welcome.
