Now this is a beast!
Remember the Motorola Olympus that leaked a few times back and was rumored to be heading to AT&T? It's finally been made official, and it's now known as the Motorola Atrix 4G. Featuring a dual-core Tegra 2 processor and 1GB of RAM, Moto is marketing the Atrix as the most powerful smartphone around. Other Atrix specs include a 4-inch "qHD" (presumably quarter HD, or 960x540) screen, 16GB of onboard storage, a microSD slot that accepts cards up to 32GB in size, a 1930mAh battery, Android 2.2, and a body that's only 10.9mm thick. Additionally, the Moto's Atrix can be used with a docking station to turn it into a laptop of sorts, allowing users to access a Firefox browser with a larger screen and a keyboard and mouse.

Moto will also be launching an HSPA+ tablet on AT&T, which will sport a 10.1-inch display, dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 core, and Honeycomb. Expect the tablet to hit some time in Q2 2011.
The Atrix certainly sounds like a beast of a phone, and I'm glad to see that it's packing a huge battery so that you'll be able to get more than 10 minutes of battery life out of the thing. AT&T is obviously stepping their game up when it comes to Android, bringing in droolworthy devices from Samsung, HTC, and Motorola to bolster their lineup. Which new AT&T Android phone looks best to you?
UPDATE: More specs for the Atrix have come to light. Motorola and AT&T's Android monster will sport the following features:

* 4-inch QHD display, likely with a 960x540 resolution
* Android 2.2 beneath MOTOBLUR
* 5 megapixel camera with LED flash
* VGA front-facing camera
* 16GB of internal storage
* microSD slot for up to 32GB more memory
* 1GB RAM

Better than the Desire HD I say... Android is just going up!
Its unstoppable!

This phone is insane, makes me think I should have waited before I upgraded :/ Android FTW though :D

Yeah, I remember that post. Phone specs are actually becoming scary. My laptop had 1GB RAM when I bought it.

I read an article the other day that said the phones in 2012 will have the same graphic processing power as a ps3 0_o

Remember when pc's only had 512mb ram :/ now a phone a lot of smartphones have that! I'm curious though, is 512mb ram on a pc and a phone the same, or is one better or so?

More like 2011 I bet. They're getting close.

The newer types of RAM probably has higher transfer speeds so it's probably even better.

I wonder if it's limited to that desktop OS Motorola includes or if we can install something like Ubuntu on it? Or does it at least allow us to install other Linux apps? This is really awesome, hope to see other manufacturers do this.
I wonder how the battery life on this phone will be.

Only thing is Motorola phones aren't very hacker friendly, pretty much impossible to install custom firmware on them.

I spent some time watching videos of the Motorola Atrix 4G and they said it was running DDR2 RAM *gulp*

It wasn't that long ago that my pc had a 1GB hard drive. My current PC only has 1GB ram, and my laptop 2GB.

I am upgrading next year September only, so imagine the phones that will be out by then :/

I kinda echo your sentiments. Never owned one, but doubt I ever will.
If Moto are at the point of releasing a Dual-Core with 1gig RAM (1st Qtr. 2011), then surely the other manufacturers aren't far behind?

I refuse to buy Motorolas

Yeah I'm sure everyone will have a similar thing. Just look at the ipad.

Will I ever forget the first time I saw a Motorola V3 Razr! I still have my black one. :)

looking forward to seeing this phone in the flesh.....though I am concerned how the high end specs will impact battery life, even though it has 1930mAh battery.

Yeah, me too.
I am sure that dual-core is gonna be quite power hungry.
I didn't even know that Android supports multi-cores currently.

Most apps will probably only use one processor at a time, but then most apps are pretty basic anyway. Motorola may have added their own enhancements for multi-core with the web browser, video encoding/decoding ect.
Besides that, it helps with multi-tasking.
