Hey guys

So my AC has a bit of an odd smell to it. Sometimes when I turn it on, sometimes only after I turn it off. I suspect it could be mould, but I'm not sure. Any way I can find out for sure?

If it is, what's the easiest way to go about getting rid of it?

Go speak with dealerships. They offer AC cleanup with cars in warranty. I have to take my car in to get serviced soon and AC is also starting to smell.

Agar and swab the inside, incubate and wait :P

I had the same issue in one of my cars a few years back and found water was dripping onto my carpets. Sorted out the drainage and all was well.

Get a tin of air con cleaner from your local spares shop.

I've used it on more than one car to get rid of smells coming from the AC.

It works like a bug bomb, put the air con on full blast and recirculate, pop the can and leave on the passenger footwell. Let it run for 10 mins and you're sorted.

Cool. This sounds like what I'm looking for. Any recommendations?

And make sure you have the spare key handy for when the doors auto-lock :o:D

This^. The AC causes condensation which is supposed to drain out the vehicle. When these drains get blocked, that water starts to go mouldy and smell. The drain plugs are normally non-return rubber "nipples" sitting somewhere on your chassis underneath the general area of your AC/firewall. They get blocked by mud and stuff splashing up from the road.
