Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho claims Manchester United have enjoyed more than their fair share of luck this season.

United are nine points clear of the champions in the Barclays Premiership after their last-gasp 2-1 win at Fulham on Saturday, although Mourinho's side have a game in hand.

"This is a season in which United have had no injuries and every player is fine to play," said the Blues boss, who also referred to Ryan Giggs' winner in the Champions League last week which French club Lille have appealed against.

"They go [to] the Champions League and have a disallowed goal for the opponent [Lille] and their goal is that goal.

"They go to Fulham and it looks like they deserve to lose and they win. They play at Tottenham, it's 0-0 and Cristiano [Ronaldo] dives, they get a penalty and win 4-0. It looks like everything is on their side, but that's football.

"I didn't see the Fulham game to be fair, but the information I have is it was completely undeserved. It's a game they could have lost and in the end they win it.

"In the Premiership all we can do is keep winning and see if the next step is to close the gap or to open the gap. If the next step is to close the gap and we can go from six points to four points, then everything is open."

Mourinho also claimed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who has won just the 2005 FA Cup since Mourinho came to England, was under less pressure than him to win trophies.

The Blues beat their London rivals in a Carling Cup final on Sunday marred by three red cards and a brawl.

He said: "Arsenal have great boys. But I wouldn't be sad if a club gives me three, four, five years and tells me, 'You don't need to win. You can lose Premiership after Premiership, and you have three, four, five seasons to build'. I wouldn't be sad.

"Since I arrived at Chelsea, they lost Premierships, they lost the Charity Shield to us, they lost the Carling Cup to us. I don't think they are winning a lot. Absolutely brilliant young boys, manager top, team with a great future. But they didn't win."

It is going to make winning at least the league all the more satisfying this year.

This guy is the worst thing in English footy right now.

the mark opf a great team is 2 win when you should have lost

how many games chelsea won that they shoulda lost

firstly united where in a slump for the last 3-4 years

secondly arsenal where winning the league before mourinho came in

i'll bet the only trophy chelsea win this year will be against the young gunners

mourinho u self envolved prick!!!!!!!!!!

Mind games people, this is exactly the sort of reaction he is looking for.

exactly !!! i actually think jose is good for the English game, he shouldnt be managing chelsea though. i think he would be better at a club like villa or spurs.
those comments will probably piss the hell out Sir alex, and jose will be absolutely thrilled

i doubt Sir Alex will be as p2ssed at it all as I am. He has been around for 20 years, seen many wingers come and go and I am sure this will be no different.

Good bye Jose

Why should SAF be pissed off? United are 9 points clear though Chelsea has a game in hand. It's the result that counts not how poor the game was played.

Sir Alex Ferguson has told Jose Mourinho to "button it" or run the risk of Manchester United going public with their dossier on Chelsea's refereeing rows.

Mourinho attempted to ignite a war of words with United in the aftermath of Chelsea's Carling Cup win last week, claiming the Blues major title rivals were getting all the luck on their championship charge.

Chief among Mourinho's complaints was Cristiano Ronaldo's 'dive' which earned the penalty against Tottenham recently, while Ryan Giggs' controversial Champions League winner against Lille did not escape his attention either.

As the undisputed master of mind games, Mourinho's statement came as no surprise to Ferguson, nor the public pronouncements of Claude Makelele and Michael Ballack which have followed this week.

But while the Scot is in no mood to get drawn into a row as his team look to consolidate their nine-point lead at the Premiership summit at Liverpool on Saturday, Ferguson has a few bits of evidence to fan the flames of controversy even more if Mourinho decides to pursue his line of questioning.

"Jose has been coming out with some stuff about us this week and so have Claude Makelele and Michael Ballack," Ferguson said.

"I have no problem with that. We have probably done things like that ourselves over the years.

"But I think Jose should button his lip until the end of the season because he is the last person to start talking about referees."

It is only two seasons ago that Mourinho accused referee Anders Frisk of going into the Barcelona changing room during a combustible Champions League clash at the Nou Camp.

The allegations were unfounded but Frisk received death threats and ultimately gave up officiating altogether.

And it appears that incident is just one Ferguson has chronicled involving Chelsea over the last few years.

"His (Mourinho's) football club have been involved in so many things with referees over the last couple of years," Ferguson added.

"It seems to me if you contest against Chelsea and they don't get their own way, then something happens either (with) referees or players threatened or things like that.

"They may want to try and unsettle us but I may have some answers. I may be just beginning.

"There is plenty to talk about with Jose and referees and Chelsea and referees. We have a big file but we will leave that for another day."

Although Ferguson accepts he cannot take the moral high ground given the images of Roy Keane leading the charge of United players at referee Andy D'Urso are still fresh in the mind, he looked upon last weekend's melee at the Millennium Stadium with disdain.

And while he defends Arsene Wenger's right to condemn the assistant referee's report on Emmanuel Adebayor's involvement as 'lies', he does so with the caveat that the Frenchman has his facts right.

"Clubs have to take responsibility for their players," he added.

"What happened at the final last weekend was unacceptable and the referee had to try and control it, which was unfortunate for him.

"It was a London derby. Maybe there was a bit of feeling between the two sides that spilled over.

"We are not exempt from this. Over the years, there have been situations we have had to control. Sometimes, you have to hold your hands up.

"Managers involved in that situation have a right to an opinion. You just hope they are right."

With referees under the spotlight as never before, Ferguson noted with surprise that the replacement at Anfield for injured first-choice Graham Poll is the relatively inexperienced Martin Atkinson.

"We have gone from the most experienced referee to the least experienced," said the United boss.

"We need to wait until tomorrow to find out if it will influence the game but it was a big surprise."

With seven wins from 14 visits during the Premiership era, Anfield is not the most daunting of venues for United.

Darren Fletcher and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who will be sidelined until the March 31 meeting with Blackburn following a minor knee operation, miss out but Ferguson has enough attacking weapons at his disposal to reject any thoughts of a cautious approach.

"Our instinct is to attack," he said. "We are a better team when we try to win and I don't want us to change.

"We won't be relying on our defending to get a 0-0 and hope to get something on the breakaway."

Fergie retaliates. :)

ManU beat Liverpool at the kop, Chelsea didn't. I wonder what excuse he's trying to make now.

*sigh*

For once Moanrinho has got it right. :o

Man U are trully the luckiest team around

God must be a fan of their's ;)

Hehe, thought you might have something to say about this.

Unlike Chelski we cannot just go out an buy a new team when someone gets injured, not do we have another whole team sitting on the bench already.

The next games should be interesting. Solskjaer injured, Scholes banned, Rooney doubtful perhaps...

The midfield certainly is in trouble.

I would play

Van Der Sar

Neville G
Vidic
Evra
O Shea

Park
Ronaldo
Smith
Carrick

Saha
Giggs

Not great but we don't have many options.

True. Chelsea are lucky and rich yet can't win the CL or probably the Prem this season :o :o :o

i would rather have liverfool or *******'s win than chelsea

chelsea have 308 million on players and cannot win the title all they can do is moan about luck

maybe teams need a bit of luck when playing against 308 million pound team

we going to see three team outta the champs league this week

*******'s and liverfool and chelsea are gone :)

barca has eto back and liverpool are screwed because they cannot score

cannot wait for the games

United certainly look in the best shape in the CL.

Liverpool could, but and away goal will certainly change things a lot...

Arsenal could definitely struggle and let's all just hope Chelsea lose.

I would say Liverpool are better shaped. Two away goals is very crucial. they just need to force a draw and it's over. Barca need two.

Hope chelsea is knocked out so I can see the chosen one moan again.

I can't wait to hear the chosen one's excuses this time :)

Killa, just keep up with the predictions! Let's just hope you don't start supporting pool, 'cause then they are in trouble! (oh forgot, you're a member of the prawn sandwhich brigade :D )
