I've moved the temp internet folder in control panel - internet properties - move folder, but it's still showing current location as c:\Users....

It creates the folder on my hdd but doesn't use it.. :/

Heeelp? (Googling hasn't provided me an answer)

Looks like the consensus is to move back to FF, which is what I'm going to do..

I moved away from FF to chrome a month or two ago. I love FF, but chrome is just so much faster! I miss all the FF addons I had though...

No. All the cache writes wears the SSD out. Should always move it to a mechanical drive.
Of course they do, but the entire point of a SSD is to make frequently accessed files faster. Sure you can park all your backups that you never touch on the SSD...which will avoid many writes...but then why bother with an SSD if your not going to use it.

Besides, thats what wear leveling is for.

I'm sure that as prices come down and capacity increases people wont worry so much anymore.

You don't need a SSD for browsing cache, unless you have a super fast internet connection which will appear slower when you cache files.

No need to unnecessarily wear out the drive, even with wear leveling. I use my SSD mostly for fast reads e.g. windows, office, apps. Those cause enough writes as they are. Don't want to waste my R2600. I don't upgrade every year :p

Since its cached, its irrelevant how fast the internet connection is in this context. Plus before even starting with the internet connection business it first needs to check whether the item is in the cache [*] ...which is slower on a mechanical drive so the entire browsing is delayed.

* Technically this is done via a DB I think, so just keeping that on the SSD via symlink should be a good middle ground.

Dunno I gets its a matter of perspective/priorities.
