guys and gals please share your thoughts...

...i am currently in a position at work that i didn't apply for, the company thought i would be able to do the work.

the salary is mostly based on commission (which i don't like), so i applied for another position and i got it, the salary for the position is just a salary ie same amount each month.

now my question is do i stay with my current job, and stress each month as my salary can be either pretty high or damn low depending on the commission

or do i take the new job and just earn an average but constant salary

and then to make things worse, is they offerend me my old job back (which in the same department as my current one), but taking this means working full shifts, incl saturdays but a bit more money than my new job would offer.

i would rather opt for stability in these instable times. Comm can come and go but a basic monthly salary should last forever :p

Personal preference, but I would go with the steady pay that doesn't require you handing over your life to work...

Well it depends what are good months and what are bad months, not very easy to say without knowing the figures you could or could not make and what you will need to do for your commission (is it something that people need or want?)

Stability is good but if you CAN make far more money earning comm it may be something to try out and take a gamble, again without knowing anything about it means our opinion is based on nothing as we know nothing.

we'll good commission month is anything above 10k (that is meeting target), and a bad month would be, well 0

I like stablility in my work, everything else can be a bit wonky as long as i can go to work , work my ass off and get pay, not worring about did i make target i'm happy.

the chances of earning a high comm when nobody wants to spend is also something you need to think about.

true, cause even if i'm 1 buck short of target, i get no commission
