Moviepass has been installed on my Desktop even though I did not knowingly request it.
It keeeps interupting my online activities and asking me to subscribe.
There does not seem to be any way that I can turn this off.

Any advise will be much appreciated.

Internet Explorer + some sites = lots of interesting icons on yer desktop... and lots of unwanted software installed... :D

Had similar problems after loading a DFX freebie last week. It Loaded down-loader Trojans and continually interrupted my activities and tried to create its own online connections. I could not even download the latest antivirus software or scan the PC online, nor receive e-mails as it stuffed the connections around. The Virus programs etc did not work, even Ewido as it would just shut them down or crash them! I removed the program Regsvr32.dll from the windows directory as I noticed it was created as running services every-time the virus returned. That did the trick as I could then delete the running Trojan programs with Killbox.exe and on reboot they were gone. I could then load the latest Ewido as the link below as well as AVG free and that together got my PC cleaned and secured. Also ran online Kappersky and manually remove all its finding after the Ewido and AVG scans. It found another Trojan and 55 infected files! Now I am as clean as a whistle and will never disable "Connection" firewalls again, even with the netgear firewall active! The older Ewido and AVG anti virus programs did not detect the infections? I think the Trojan destroyed their functions! The new Ewido have a "self termination" block to suppress these Trojan antivirus killers!

PS: have not as yet restored the regsvr.dll as Hijack do not recognize it as a valid running service. Thus I will see how far i can get away without it. Apparently this allows Trojans to change the registry on the fly and run services. Now the b@stards can't I presume and so far i noticed no change in system operation apart from its faster and windows and explorer is more stable with no regsvr services running!. We will see and hold thumbs!

Don't forget to clean your registry, there could still be registry entries which may still cause chaos and random crashes.

Yeah, but need a good "registry fix" program and must first make a proper backup. 70 gig * 2 is not easy wit hundreds of programs on system. Waiting to find reason to purchase a 300+ Gig drive. Make a backup copy of all, reinstall and start over. The last time I did it I wanted to cry. So only a catastrophic failure will do the trick, or a brat with a hammer. I then I only cry once again and start over.

Registry Mechanic does an excellent job. Backs up the registry and allows you to restore it if you choose. Just cleaned mine today after 3 months and it detected and fixed 293 errors. Well worth the purchase

You can find instructions on removing moviepass here. This company also tracked down the guy responsible for creating this wonderful software. His contact info is on their page as well. Don't forget to cancel your account before you remove the software.

No, its a stupid referance from a family guy episode. Im not really going to come to his house and cut him..

Qed? I dont know what that means...

And I dont think FF is way better, but you do... hmm. Nothing we can do abotu that.

MoviePass renamed to Popcorn.net

The people behind MoviePass have bottled up their software under a new name - popcorn.net. Popcorn.net is just as hard to remove as moviepass, but luckily all of the file names are almost identical. They dropped the mediaPipe name and replaced it with the more generic Download Manager. Removal instructions are available at http://www.schrockinnovations.com/removepopcorn.php

I just had to plug FF, no one else was.

QED - Qualitatively Extracted Deduction

now I can get back to my tabbed browsing. :)
Opera was good, but after years of waiting for them to fix their broken page saving I gave up and switched to Firefox. Firefox works extremely well. I get good tabbed browsing and pages are saved neatly. Plus a find function that is actually useful.

quod erat demonstrandum

Some excellent news...

Washington State is suing a movie download service over allegations that it used spyware to promote its business.

Movieland.com and its associates allegedly used malware tactics to bombard punters with aggressive pop-up ads that demanded payment for its download service. The lawsuit, brought by Washington State attorney general Rob McKenna, is the second lawsuit filed under the state's Computer Spyware Act.

You can read the rest of the article on El Reg.

Well the find function is exactly the sam as on Opera, but it looks alot nicer.

FF20 beta 1 is giving me alot of problems. Doesnt even load buycomputers.co.za properly, and has more rendering problems than my Opera as far as I can tell.

It also crashes quite a bit on my system, but when the RC, beta 2 or final comes out i might use it, I like the spell checker, and Im in dire need of it if you look at my posts.
FF3 alpha looks nice however, renders very fast...

And that definition for QED, (not the wiki one) i dont even understand what that means..
