I currently have a two 27" Samsung Syncmaster SA550 monitor setup (LL). Utilising the same amount of desk space, I want to move to the 3-monitor setup now that I have a motherboard that can handle it. I want to keep one 27" monitor as my primary, and (probably, unless convinced otherwise) two monitors in portrait mode, one on either side (PLP).

My questions:
  • What size monitor should I use in portrait mode next to my 27" samsung for the screens to be as flush as possible?
  • Which "tiltable" monitor will give me the best bang for my buck that I can buy on-line? I know my software will let me tilt the screen, but I need a monitor that can physically do the same on its own stand.

Yes, I COULD do the maths and google searches, but then I'd be missing out on the valuable real-world trial-and-error experience you might have had. Any feedback/tips/advice welcome and appreciated!

Interesting topic, which I am keen to hear if anyone can contribute to it... therefore THREAD BUMP!!!

Why two in portrait mode? One I can understand but two seems like you will be losing out on a lot of space.

It's a productivity thing... Trust me, more is better :D. Maybe I've invited too many random comments... Nobody's come close to an answer :)

guess you have to measure your 27" screen and then goto a computer shop and measure the screens on display. closes will 19,5 Screen.

as the title says. he has 27" and 19"
but you will have to buy a different stand then.
