As the title states. Tired of the inconsistency in network quality at Cell C. The low prices don't justify it anymore. Anyway I'd like to know how Vodacom is generally with coverage and quality of tgeir 3G and HSPA+ network. I've tested it in my area, seems to be good. I just want know what it's like generally in other areas. Thanks, I'm a prepaid customer

We have done and tried all networks and VC comes out tops every time. The prove is in the pudding as I travel to all the smallest of towns in the Western Cape province, always trying other network SIM's first in my mobile data devices with the VC coming out the winner every time. It is to be remembered that cheaper comes at a premium cost to service delivery. VC is probably more expensive but it works in the remote small towns where the other are useless. Not a fanboy but the facts in daily use is the prove of good service.

Been with Vodacom for year's hardly had issues. Almost wherever you are in SA you will get full 3G or LTE there are those odd dry signal patches like every other network, but its far superior to Cell C

Thanks for the responses guys. I guess one can't run away from paying high prices when one wants a quality product

This will depend on where you want to use your phone and for what. I've had times where I wanted to jump on my phone due to the bad quality data I was receiving from vodacom at that point in time at a particular spot I found myself at. On vacation CELLC and MTN took the cup with data performance while VC was so bad I was the only one with proper internet in the house.

So you're saying coverage isn't consistent enough to be better than the other providers? That it all depends on location? I use my phone for data 90% of the time.

Ported from Vodacom to Cell-C 2 years ago.At the time it was purely pricing decision. At first 3g speeds were great but network coverage wasn't as good. Now I would say there coverage has improved alot but the influx of subscribers has caused 3g speeds to slow down alot. Ported back to vodacom 2 weeks ago and even though I am paying probably 50% more I don't mind as coverage is great and 3g is quick.
Location: Durban and PMB

Coverage can be consistent like no tomorrow and you will still struggle if everyone and their dog want to download the whole internet at the same time. So what I'm saying is: Your mileage may vary.

I just shake my head in disbelief when I hear someone complaining and dissing provider X because this other provider Y's throughput was better last night..... It all depends on the location in the end. You cannot expect Vodacom to be uber great at every little location you might find yourself during a typical day. Same goes for all of the other providers. So get a few prepaid sims and head out to the far ends of wherever you plan to use them and test out the performance for yourself. This is the only way to land at a better conclusion. Also take into account that network conditions can change over time.
