ok so we finally stopped renting and bought a townhouse. the complex only recently got fibre so im a happy chappy otherwise i would have had to move back to DSL like an animal

anyways, im just wondering how does the fibre moving process work now? must i just phone webafrica and tell them im going to location X so please send openserve to come do a new install and bill me accordingly?

Also, equipment, theres the tiny white box on the wall which i believe stays at the current home but then theres this white huawei router like thing that i suppose runs the fibre show. is this also supposed to come with me or is that also an official part of the houses fibre infrastructure?

Telkom will treat it as a new installation so yeah... you have to get them to get telkom to come out and re install... Friend tried to change ISP's on Fiber with Openserve only to find out they dont have support to do so, so he had them come out and do a new installation of the same line just so he could change his ISP from MWEB to CrystalWeb.

I'm in the same boat:

Was on VUMA and Cool Ideas and moved house.

Complex just received Fibrehoods (luckily still part of Vuma) and the installation is new (so have to pay for that again).

Cool Ideas just needed the line to be activated then they transfer my old service to the new Fibre line. The Router you have can be taken with you, since you paid for it with your previous ISP activation and account. At the new place, just hook up the router to the box on the wall and off you go (as long as the Fibre is connected all the way through).

I am not changing ISP's as I'm extremely happy with Cool Ideas so I don't have that worry, but if you DO change ISP's then the new one might just give you another router. Up to you what you want to do with the old one though
