Good day everyone

I would like to find out if anybody else has had this problem and what can I do ?

I'm moving to a new complex and the new complex has no telkom lines installed anywhere yet. Also I don't see any telkom poles near the complex or going into it.

Now I'm still on a telkom simple 3 contract, what I want to know now is there anyway I can get out of the contract if telkom cannot provide the service inside the complex?

Thanks

The problem with some of the complexes is that the trustees don't want Telkom lines in the complex. Friends of mine currently have this issue and it's a serious problem to contend with - if the trustees say no then Telkom can't do much.

You can always phone Telkom and ask what they are able to do for you with regards to the contract.

Your going to be charged for early termination charges.

Any idea how much this is I can understand the charges, because it is not telkom's fault I moved. Just want the charges to be fair aswell

Seems like the cancellation fee is around 15% of the line rental for the remainder of the contract period

Yeah but they are not that bad these days since CPA came in its 10% of remaining months total so for example if you have 10 months of a R399 contract left then your cancelation fee is (R399x10)x10% which then becomes R399.

Unless you got devices on this contract?

I got the D-Link router "free when signing a 24 month contract" but since mine won't then be on a 24 month contract anymore I would probably need to pay in for it aswell

It depends, give them a call to find out.

Mtn gave me a free TV and when I canceled my 4 month old MTN contract last year I didn't pay a cent for the TV(just R1500 for the phone),so give them a call to ask how much it would cost to cancel and you may be pleasantly surprised.;)

Just some feedback for everyone in the same boat as me. I went in to a telkom shop to ask the them what I should do. The lady their advised me that I should phone telkom and ask them to move the line despite knowing that they will be unable to move the line. She then said because telkom cannot supply me with the line they won't hold me accountable for the cancellation of the contract thus I will pay no penalty fees. Here's to hoping this is how it will work out:)
