So I start my new job as an On-site IT Engineer on Monday.

I'll be working on SBS 2003 and 2008 primarily I think, for what seems to be an MS stable (in terms of what the company use / supply). I'll be travelling to and from clients and dealing with distributors etc (which I do privately anyhow). Anything from 1 to 80 or so users.

I'm moving from the low of the low (Support Technician) so i'm quite happy about the prospect of moving as I'll have immense room for growth and oppurtunity to better myself and the business I move to. Also its less hours, no shifts, more pay - no brainer really.

Any advice on said move? Do's and dont's?

I'm mainly curious to hear what people have to say - its always good to have another perspective...

Thanks
J

Good for you man! It's been 9 months now in my new job and my finances are good, compared to my last job. But stress levels will always be more as you assume more responsibility at your workplace. So my advice is to try and watch out for stress, and don't overspend, don't buy a Ferrari if your colleague who does the same job as you buys a Porsche ;).

I'm usually very in control of my finances - have 2 credit cards that I never pay any interest on as I pay them off early, so in that respect i'm not worried.

Its just nice to know that i'll be working 40 less hours per month for 3.5k more. No more shifts, no more weekends, no more public holidays.

I'll also have the oppurtunity to learn and grow as the new company seems to have the philosophy of what you put in you get out.

I sincerely hope it go's well. It's a nice feeling. Hopefully I won't end up too cynical and jaded as my new employment progresses...

Thanks
J
