Need some advice here please

My dish is currently in the way as its attached at a spot on the wall where I would like to put a door. I didn't even notice the guy draw the plans this way else I would have told him to change it

Can I unscrew the dish and just move it a metre or so further to the left on the same wall without getting reception issues? I';m thinking it should work since I'm not changing the direction its pointing in and a signal that's already traveled hundreds (thousands?) of kilometres should still be able to reach a dish which moved a metre.

I don't want to go through the hassle of getting a company to do this, I'm broke anyway (I realise now that people weren't lying when they said building is expensive lol).

Thanks

Even if the bracket is mounted on the same wall, you might still have elevation issues if the bracket gets bolted on at a different angle. A tiny difference will mean it misses the little spec you are pointing at, 35 000 km away. If you are lucky, it will work.

I'm going to try, its worth a shot. If it doesn't work I'll just have to watch series from the PC until I've got some bucks to pay someone

Say, quantum, if he does this live with the TV on that signal strength screen, it should also be an aid to the task, what you think?

Yes, you can mark the 4 holes for the bracket like that, but even tightening the couch screws might pull it out of alignment... Then you would have to adjust the dish. It won't be far out, so you might be able to do that yourself too, using the signal strength screen of the decoder.
