What do I suppose to do when I moving to a new place if I would like to keep my telephone line and ADSL as well?
Does anyone experience this? what 's the procedure, and lead time?
THANKS

From what I've read people have had tonnes of issues transferring lines. You'll have better luck cancelling your line and ordering a new one at your new place.

Unless your new place uses the same exchange as your current place, you cannot in fact "transfer" a line. You have to cancel your current line and then reapply for a new line along with all the services you want for your new place.

By the way, don't forget to check that your new place is in an area that supports ADSL before signing the lease/purchase offer.

Just cancel everything and sign up from scratch again. It saves you a TON of hassle. Also, if you're moving to a place in the same area, just ask if it's not possible to get the same number again (they did this for me at my previous apartment when I moved pretty much just two roads away :D).

This is bad! It took more than 3 months to order this line. and now, I have to cancell it and re-order: another 3 months to wait???

From my experience and 3 moves later (all in the same phone number prefix area) I simply had my line transferred. So if you are moving within the same area I suggest trying to have it all transferred, but go to your local Telkom shop to get it sorted, try avoiding the call centre if possible.

With each move the transfer was done successfully, although I had to drop tools and run each time to give the techies access to my premises. The last time they did it on the morning of 24 December, goes to show what can be done. If I was you, try the transfer thing first.

Congratulations on your new place- as Qwik suggested, rather get a new line and cancelthe existing one. It's going to cause a bunch of issues to do a transfer.
