Got ThunderTweety doodoo in my face, but all is ok again...
My TB experience has been fraught with vrot today
- ThunderTweety decided to drop several droppings as it flew above me, in circles.
Seems to be related to the large number of mail items that I imported from just 1 of my OLK2k profiles.
Basically, I got locked out of the default TweetyBird Profile. On starting TB, instead of being presented with the now familiar TB window, I was suddenly presented with the Profile Manager instead (a surprise when you have only used the desktop shortcut to start TB, and never visited the same in the Start Menu). I told it to use the (existing) default profile, it told me it is already in use. I thought locked file, logged-off, logged-on, same story, rebooted, again, same story. I created another profile, same story, I deleted the new profile, suddenly I was able to use the default profile again
In case you (like myself) didn't know, TB also has Profiles (not to be confused with accounts), and there is a Profile Manager
(Start>Programs>Mozilla Thunderbird>Profile Manager)
actually it is the same Thunderbird.exe with a -ProfileManager command line switch. If, like myself, you had wondered if you can tell TB to store all your stuff at another location not linked to your Windoze User Account, then the answer is to start by creating a new profile in Profile Manager.
Also, if you are anything like me (who thinks he has a psychic link to minds of the applications & os), then it is advisable to at least read the FAQs before embarking on a TweetyBird experiment.
