Hey all,

I'm having trouble with time length displayed when playing ripped mpg files.

I've used IMToo DVD ripper to rip two educational DVDs to MPG, following this I drop the MPG file into Movie Maker to "clip out" sections of the movie for use in presentations, the problem is that when playing the MPG movie in Movie Maker, WMP, an MPEG Splitter or any other player the time length on say a five minute clip would show as only 20 seconds although the player plays the enitire five minute clip and this makes "clipping out" sections very difficult.

Does anyone know of any freeware program with which I can correct the timestamps in the MPEG headers or is this even possible?:(

Many thanks.

i had the same problem. you may need to use an alternative media player to display the correct time.

Yeah, I found Elecard Mpeg2 player mentioned on another forum, when playing the file in Elecard the time was correct but still when reverting back to Movie Maker or the splitter the problem persists, I would need to find some way of correcting the actual timestamps to make clipping out sections possible, since if I now clip out a section it has the tendancy to loose a few seconds of the clipped section.
