Trying to burn a DVD of my holiday. Video taken on a Sony harddrive camcorder. Every time you record/stop it creates a new mpeg2 file, so you end up with loads of little files. Most DVD authoring tools only allow you too import about 98 files. Thats no good as the length of the video is about 2 hrs and consists of about 300 files. I dont want to have to create multiple DVD's because of this 98 file restriction. I guess I need a way to join these files together?

Thanks Gary but that's exactly my problem. There are so many of these free/trial video joiners. The problem is finding one that's free and actually will happily join hundreds of mpeg files without running out of memory or complaining I need to purchase. I was hoping someone with first hand experience could save me the time.

Is there not a setting on your camcorder that can let it record it all in one sequence, instead of creating multiple pieces? Anyway, your best best would be to get a decent piece of software, such as Pinnacle, Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier etc. Perhaps you should try VirtualDub. It's free. http://www.virtualdub.org/download.html

I also have a Sony HDD camcorder, and installed the software that came with the unit. There is a feature called "One button burn" or something to that effect. With that feature you just plug in your camcorder, use this feature, and you burn a DVD with all your files combined into one.
