MPEG4 DVD conversion

What are you peeps using to convert DVD movies to iPod or PSP (Mpeg4 conversion). I am using "ImToo DVD to iPod" converter and it works very well but the only prob is it takes ages to convert a full DVD. It converts about 1:1 - i.e. a 90 min movie takes 90 min to convert.

Is there anything you are aware of that converts very quickly say about 30 min for a full length movie?? (or even less but I am pushing it I know)

ImToo should have an option to change the speed.

I'm actually talking about the length of time it takes to covert a DVD - not the speed of the DVD i.e. frame rate. You can set framerate on ImToo but I find the default of 25fps works well for iPod (same as a PAL DVD). For PSP I tend to reduce the framerate else the audio goes out of sync.

but please note i don't have an iPOD or PSP so i can't tell u how it goes but perhaps u could report back if it helped you out or not

Hi, yes, I have tried Videora - is also slow in the encoding part and is a bit muddled - it encodes one mp4 file for every VOB file on the DVD - not much good as you have to join them afterwards - maybe it does join them I just lost interest when it took longer than ImToo to encode a DVD.
You also have to set your picture size (the size of the screen you want i.e. 4:3, 16:9) manually in pixels where with ImToo you can just select the picture screen size you want - either 'letterboxed' or full screen pan and scan. Wide screen or letterboxed on an ipod is just too small so I rather use pan and scan to get a full screen even though the sides of the picture is cut off - I just watch a movie on the iPod to kill time (like at airports- air flights etc)

well converting to MPEG4 is a CPU intensive process! Buy a faster PC, build a cluster or something along those lines ... basically you are saying I have this Toyota tazz, but it is too slow, it takes too much time to drive from JHB to CT, about 14 hours. What do you expect? It is 1500km! Same with your PC and the conversion!

Try yasa dvd to ipod converter, It is much quick.

Thanks for the info, I have d/loaded the new CloneDVD Mobile and it does the conversion to MP4 in about half the time as ImToo. I will definately be buying this product. The user interface is very easy to use. Quality is excellent. Give it a try. It has profiles for the PSP, Creative ZEN, Mobile phones and other pocket devices as well.
