MPs milk travel allowances

According to Parliament’s latest report, taxpayers spent more than R223m on MPs’ calls and travels in the 2009-10 financial year, and close to R158m in 2008-09.

Political parties have denied that the travel policy is lavish but a senior Parliamentary official claimed that some MPs milked the system as much as they could within the rules.

I personally dont think they are "milking" the allowances. Its the policies that need revision...

You are right, there is a loophole and they should do something about it. Wheather they will is the question, its the same with the car allowances.
