McBride was convicted of murder in a Court of Law. Mandela wasn't.

It is a bit more direct, and he has also been involved in a lot of skullduggery, including gun-running.

Nelson Mandela was never convicted of murder. The only crime Nelson Mandela was ever convicted of was treason, which is certainly not the same as murder. Robert McBride was convicted of cold-blooded murder. He personally killed people.

Being part of the top brass of the same organization = Freedom Fighter.

It is amazing how the finer nuances of acceptability and appropriateness just pass people by.

How can people not see that, with reference to his various brushes with the law (both politically motivated and those of a common criminal), he is not suitable for the job of head of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate?

He has no believability.
He does not instill trust.
He is not an honest broker.
