One of the world’s keenest petrolheads, British comedic genius Rowan Atkinson, escaped death after crashing his McLaren supercar on Thursday, 4 August.

The accident happened on the A605 in Haddon, Cambridgeshire, when the 56-year old British actor appears to have overcorrected his McLaren F1 road car, spinning it before impacting a lamppost.

Atkinson managed to escape from the BMW V12-powered supercar before it burst into flames, requiring firefighters to rush to the scene. The Mr Bean star was taken to Peterborough city hospital and treated for a shoulder injury.

Although, if I recall he mentions on one of the recent Top Gear episodes that his McLaren's done nearly 60,000 miles. I doubt there's another F1 around that's actually being driven to that extent; and he's only crashed it twice...

Yip, second time this same car has been in a prang. But like you say, at least the car is driven and it doesn't sit in some showroom under a cover its whole life

Indeed... Maybe after his accomplishment at the top gear track he figured he should be pushing his mclaren a bit harder ;)
 
Probably thought he was entitled to hooning after setting the fastest lap time on TG
 
Real shame about the car, at least Mr Bean is ok. Never knew he had such good taste in cars...
 
Hahhahahaha, yep. He's got a nice collection. Also think he probably tried to push the cara bit harder and in UK weather it's a bad idea in a F1... Good on ya Beany
 
Think he said 37 000 miles, which is about 60 000 kms.
