WTF is up with our pings locally?

What are folks doing over there? Shaping gaming?

Why are local pings such rubbish of late.

Ya i agree THIS IS BULL$H!T!!!! I have a 4mbps uncapped Mweb account and i am getting 300ms+ on bad company 2 local servers!!! If you guys are gonna shape us on SGS/iburst/WAGE servers THEN MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN SERVERS!!!!!

+1 - WTF is up with our pings locally?

Please provide a decent level of support to myBB mbr's; as I am tired of receiving emails from MWEB and WTF does this Co. find it acceptable only to respond after 24 hrs, it aint dial up? (22 so far - most I have ever received from an ISP)

Also, when I am eventually (if at all) contacted by a MWEB Rep. it is by some idiot that can't even speak English nor have ever owned a computer in their life, what is the use of that?

Regards

Michael

Personally my pings havnt been to bad on bad company 2. Somtimes i have bad spikes of 200+ but usually about 50-100ms on SGS servers. My COD4 is better at < 40ms.
I play just about any time of the day, off and on peak. So i'm still pretty happy.. and yes 4mb uncapped mweb but line is will telkom (not that it should matter).

It really is silly to slow down low bandwidth game usage. Yesterday my pings were great in BC2, but Sunday it was pretty much unplayable. :(

I cant even play WoW during peak times. Pings get silly rates of 6000+

What kind of problem could exist with slow ping times such that the solution involves individually investigating only those people who experience the problem?

Hi

I have already sent you a PM response. Please let me know if there is anything else you need assistance with.

MWEB Operations

Given that this seems to affect a large portion of your customer base, can you not post here the reasons for the latency? Rather than everyone PM'ing.

They will go through things like your MTU settings(makes no difference), then tell you to put your modem into bridged mode(makes no difference), then they will tell you have you thought about upgrading to the 4096 unshaped package, and if you say no they will then suggest that you go for the 512k. It was at that point where i said i will rather choose the cancellation option thanks.

I have been contacted by a MWEB "Technical Specialist"; the procedure is exactly as per semaphore's post, however I will give them the opportunity to respond until tomorrow when I will post the email I have sent them. (First time I have been contacted < 24 Hrs, so I am hopeful)

It will make no difference, they try to think they are helping you where in fact its actually there policies on their network which is ringing your neck. I also had the opportunity to have a good laugh when they told me that my network was infected with viruses. Lets see machine running linux with the most anal rules ever, and a freshly formatted desktop with firewall and anti-virus, and turned off.

LOL, although they seem rather technically challenged, one should still provide them with the opportunity to redeem themselves...

I'm all for giving opportunities, but they and we all know its their network and not our lines. Perhaps in the odd cases there might be problems with the lines themselves.

yeah this is network issue. i wonder if these are "problems" not based on overall usage of each user.
