Los IT en vat hulle fluffy!!!

I'm confused: by "mous" did OP mean "mouse", or is this an acronym for some IT qualification? Genuine question, I'm not poking fun here (I may do that at other times, but not now).

Microsoft Office User Specialist. New name is Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) but it used to be MOUS.

ashgcas, without trying to be nasty, reading that single sentence you wrote, if I was someone who employed people, after that sentence, I would not hire you, for many reasons, spelling, not taking the time to actually dot your experience and qualifications down.

I truly wish you good luck if you think you have a chance after a posting like that. Nothing wrong in asking advice or help here, but thinking you can dot down that one liner and think anyone is going to take the time to help you, is wishful thinking.

Oh no you didn't!!!!!

Yeah Google has also launched a few of these certifications as well. People can now become expert gmail, calendar and play store experts. I think they are just as needed as the MOUS people because offices are littered with computer illiterate people using complex CRM systems.

I'm not expert but advice would be to first start with a certification from this millennium because certificate from 1998 without the 18 year work experience in between, is not gonna be of any use. Study current technologies with all your heart. Companies love self-starters as it shows initiative, use that as your trump card.

Personally you'll not find a job easy :/ with windows xp,vista ,7 ,8,8.1 and 10 been released since then and not working in the field the certificates are not much worth anymore

How about we give the person some useful advice? Having access to a keyboard and mouse, and often thinking you actually know how to use it, does not make you superior.

My advice: Buy a notebook, they are cheap, it will come with Win8 or Win10 installed. Learn to Google - Google for PC tech websites, PC help sites and forums. Read those, apply what you learn, try and help people. When you got a few skills, knock on PC shop's doors, and make it known you can help out for minimal pay in order to learn. If you can show savvy, and quick resolution, you might get hired. Take things from there.

My advice is for you to continue doing whatever you do at SAPS and start a side business where you fix PC's at home, after hours.
You will not get anywhere with a qualification from 2 decades ago, especially with 1 that has become common knowledge, or natural for today's generation.
