My emails used to be sorted in groups titled "yesterday", "last week", "two weeks ago" and "older".

Now only the "older" emails show up. When I search for e.g. an email I received yesterday, it shows up, but the moment I clear the search box, it disappears again. Also, some emails I received yesterday and last week do not even show up on searches.

Your expert assistance would be appreciated.

Chances are you have a filter set in your view on Outlook. Try View, Reset View, or go into View Settings and remove any filter.

Had a similar problem on one of our office PC's. Sorted it out with Outlook "scanpst" tool. If you connect to an exchange server download the "ost" version.
Scanpst is in your C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14 directory.

Do you have a Personal Folder setup ?

What is your default delivery location ?

Would you consider using a gmail account as a forwarding account for all your correspondence ?

Could be something silly.... just check your settings ?

" Arrange by date.... or Newest on top " this can be checked and set in the default viewing pane.

I had an email issue a week or 2 ago (MWEB blocked my account due to spam emails being sent from it) and after that was resolved, I somehow ended up with 3 email folders (don't ask me, ask the IT dude who tried to fix my problem!).

The folders are:
Personal
Archive
name of email address.

What do you mean by default delivery location?

Could be something silly.... just check your settings ?

Did this, but it does not solve the issue.

Default delivery location.....

Option 1 : You read all your emails from your mail server.

Option 2 : Emails are stored locally as a Personal Folder on your PC.

Perhaps try a repair on your Office 2010 installation > Control panel > Programs > Uninstall a program

You will have an option to uninstall Office or change or repair .

Try the repair option.

Do you see the column that says "Yesterday"
yesterday.jpg

Click on the small triangle

:)

If the emails are stored locally you can only access them locally. ( PC /laptop)

If remote ( exchange server) then accessibility will not be an issue.

Perhaps the IT dude has change delivery location, this in theory should not result in you "losing" any emails.

I do not want to do installs and uninstalls. Not knowledgeable enough, I may mess it up even more!

RE: delivery loccation: I normally read the mail on Outlook on my PC. So that would mean they are stored on my PC. How does that solve my problem though?

Keegan, the whole point of my post is that the column entitled "yesterday" has disappeared. How can I click on it if it disappeared? :)

After the IT guy left, things were fine for about a week or 2, the problem only started today.

Your emails might have been deleted. Try the following http://www.clarion.edu/283605/

The OP stated that he is able to find some of the emails when he performs a search, he did however not state what the location for those emails were. The fact that he is not able to find all of them indicate a fault in the data file.
If the data file is huge it is also very susceptible to hard drive errors causing data loss.
