MS update offline

I have downloaded Vista64 sp1 from MS and
when i install it it doesnt upgrade my pc to sp1. then I try to install SP@ and it complained that SP 1 is not installed

Autopatcher is gone for 64bit vista .. is there any easy way to have these updates work off line .?

I have to reformat tghe pc 3 times already..
