Hi
When I double click any Word doc that's on my desktop or in Windows Explorer, it does not for quite a while (up to a minute) and then suddenly it opens Word and the doc. Why doesn't it open immediately?
However, when I open MS Word first, and then use File > Open to open the docs, then it opens the doc files immediately. So it's only when I double click on a Word doc that I get this problem where it "hangsssss" and then opens eventually.
Note that it's not the doc files itself, since I tested it on several different docs, either created by myself or received from elsewhere. So it happens when I double click ALL Word docs.
Troubleshooting:
* I've disabled my virus scanner (since it scans all files)
* I'm also NOT mapped to any network drives (because if you are mapped and the drive is not available, then it can cause Word to appear to hang before eventually timing out, after it's checked the mapped drives).
* I've used "Repair" under Word's Help menu, made no difference to the problem.
* I deleted the normal.dot template in Word (because sometimes if that's corrupt, it can hang too) but it made no difference.
So any suggestions will be appreciated!
(I use Windows XP Pro and MS Office 2003)
