With its striking silver and black colour scheme, the EX620 is an elegant looking desktop replacement notebook.

Consumers are spoilt for choice with the large variety of excellent notebooks on the market today. Because of continuous research and development, and the implementation of new technologies in current notebooks, consumers can choose the notebook that’ll fulfil their specific needs.

Notebooks are aimed at different target markets, and we therefore have entry level notebooks, mid-range notebooks, and high-end notebooks. High-end notebooks are aimed at users who want the best performance a notebook can offer. MSI’s EX620 falls into the latter category.

With its striking silver and black colour scheme, the EX620 is an elegant looking desktop replacement notebook. MSI used the latest ‘Color Film Print Technology’ for a unique ocean-wave pattern design on the notebook’s chassis, which really makes the EX620 stand out. The EX620 sports a 16- inch widescreen LCD with a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio. MSI’s exclusive VIVID LCD technology ensures a vibrant image, which is evident when watching high definition media.

The EX620 features an AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD3470 GPU with 256MB of GDDR3, ensuring excellent graphics processing for media playback and gaming. Although this notebook is capable of running most current games, it’s not a gaming notebook, but rather a multimedia notebook – so don’t expect to use it as a gaming notebook. We stress-tested the EX620 using PCMark Vantage, and as you can see from the results elsewhere on this page, the scores were average.

Other features include a built-in 2-megapixel Webcam; a TouchStrip fingerprint sensor on the touch pad; a full QWERTY keyboard with a number pad; three USB 2.0 ports (one on the left-hand side, one at the back and one on the right-hand side); an HDMI port for video and audio output to an external display; an eSATA port; Gigabit Ethernet; 802.11b/g/n wireless; Bluetooth with EDR; a FireWire port; and a touchsensor strip above the keyboard. Overall, MSI’s EX620 is a highly capable multimedia notebook, featuring excellent graphics, good sound, and a solid, minimalist design.
