i know it is a few years old, so i am not sure how the current cpu support is on this puppy

currently i have an Intel I-5 4670 k cpu that will work perfectly with it. but i know there are many new CPU's out there, and i might wanna upgrade cpu in a year or 2

I think the board is sock 1150, how is the cpu support for that socket? and how up-gradable is it short to medium term

If it's for home use and gaming then it's a perfect board. I see it even has build in wifi and Bluetooth so why not

My MPower z87 is almost 2 years old and never had any issue with it.

I highly recommend it but if you're looking to upgrade your CPU in near future then the sock is already redundant. Skylake is LGA 1151.

Can basically go to I7 4790K, or the I5 4590K and nothing more.

Your highest upgrade path will be an i7-4790K. This will require the latest bios version & you will have to flash it before putting the new cpu in. In two years time I suspect you might have to look at the second hand market to acquire one of those cpus.

Anything after that will require a complete cpu/mb/ram upgrade to skylake or whatever comes next.
