Hey peeps.

I'm looking at upgrading my sapphire 4870 2gb gfx card for the 6870 1gb... I'm not sure if its a good idea or not. Then there are three different models (in the title) and their prices all vary about R1000...

Just thought I'd ask you guys what your thoughs are.

Thanks :)

If its all stock/reference models then it makes zippo difference really. Click on the cheapest that still has at least 1 year warranty, then click add to cart, and proceed to checkout :)

Dont forget to pay me a consulting fee! I also need Christmas goodies :p

What he said.

Also in terms of performance... The 4870 is still a good card... Just was hoping to hear from anyone who has one?

If your games aren't lagging no need to upgrade unless you want DX11. The 6870 will give you a big performance boost though.

@Qwikslver - well black ops lags occasionally with 4mb line... I'm running a phenomx4 955 with 4gb ddr3 1333.

Dx11 would be nice for dirt, but no other games I play atm...

*also, I like playing in native resolution 1920X1080... With aa and af

At that res and detail settings then the 6870 will make a difference. Why not try drop settings and still see if you get lag?

Also what ISP are you with?

I'm with mweb, openweb, telkom and afrihost... Played on all the accounts and its the same with all of them. Smooth untill I run into a few people... Always lags at the most inopportune times :(

Why is an XFX any better than any other brand? Will it give him extra fps?
Because it will give him a noddy badge.

Just listen to what Archer said (1st reply): most of the cards are just rebranded reference designs, so the performance should be exactly the same.
The only thing that you should look into is the warranty.

What Archer said. Unless a particular model is an overclocked edition or something similar it just doesn't matter.

I have a Club3d 6870, which I bought from Prophecy. I am very happy with it!

Do I also qualify for a consulting fee hmmm? ;)
