MSN Messenger cannot sign in if I use Iburst, working well with my ADSL connection. Is their somebody who experience the same problem?

Update your MSN

Fortunately not all problems are directly related to WBS. All you have to do is update your MSN. Older versions will no longer work on the MSN network due to security problems with the old software *typical Microsoft bull**** * but anyways. Update your software and this should fix your problem. Fixed mine. :)

rudids, I have the same problem, on version 6.2.0137, what version are you using? (dumb download.msn.com / .co.za doesn't tell me what version I am trying to download  )

Ok, my problems were with MSN 7.025, which still does not work at MTU 1392.

alchamy, a quick sidebar here - v7+ is a beta, correct? What's new/different between v6 & v7? Where can I download v7 beta?

Yes it is beta, although it crashes less then version 6.2+ imo.

The features are "fun" rather then productive, the new version uses the newer msn skins, (the light blue). It supports winks, nudges and installing of packs (packs still disabled in beta)

It just MSNs attempt to catch up with Yahoo IM.

You can download it from

Ok, thanks, I will schedule it for download - next year sometime when I have better than 4.2kbps download speed

4.2? wow your lucky

My last 26 tests have all been under 3kbps, some as low as 0.6

Also I get these lovely blackholes that last for about 4minutes where no traffic moves at all, local sites can burst to about 12kbps for a few seconds, International bursts of up to 6kbps also only lasting a few seconds.

I just did the Telkom speed test, result as follows, is this meaningful? Incidentally I "installed" LSM but I see nothing on my computer at all - I downloaded it, clicked on install, it went through the process, said finished, and then it disappeared....

I'm in Randburg by the way...

Telkom ADSL Speed Test Meter
Your line speed is approximately 325.2 Kbps or 39.9 kBytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )

Results:
Below is the data used to calculate your download speed:
Download time: 12.547 seconds
Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
Estimated line speed: 325.2 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 39.9 (kiloBytes/second)

divv, on W2KP it installed to:
%ProgramFiles%\tcpIQ\Line Speed Meter

Having said that, the way the Burst-i network is right now, I cannot get LSM to work at all, I have given up trying.

Alchamy, I fear we have signed up with the Wireless Blackhole Solutions company that sucks the money out of our wallets/bank accounts & gives nothing in return.

Why is the same version working with my ADSL connection but not working with Iburst? My logic tells me look at my connection!

LSM is a no go, wont complete testing, I have been doing my testing with Tweakmaster (a very nice app btw)

rofl, I think you might just have found the WBS nickname, The Blackhole definately extends beyond the transfer speeds & money. The staff also have them in their heads.

I must be honest, I am at the point where ADSL is looking very attractive. At least there I will only be disconnected once a day, I will get my allocated bandwidth, I can still browse locally once capped and I could use something like Clipses Nukecap for international. (from what I have seen about 5kbps, which is pretty much what WBS will provide once capped)

Though I still cant bring myself to support Telkom and 1mbit is well addictive, when it works atleast ;)

Yep, that's where I stand as well - besides also being somewhat cash-strapped right now, so I cannot afford to switch to ADSL right now.

Yeah ADSL will definately hit the pockets, I think the first months bill is normally in the region of R2000 (rental, ISP, installation)

And you would most likely being making your final payment to WBS.
You would also need a modem (not gonna get the rubbish telkom one)

So the switch would cost you around R3000, R2500 more than you planned to spend on broadband when choosing iburst.

And then ofcourse your monthly cost is more than double that of Iburst.
