MTN 1GB on Kulula Connect

You can get a 1gig package from iburst with soft cap for R199 p/m.
 
Thing is I have "poor" converage in my area according to their converage map. Plus I keep hearing such bad things about them, so I'm very reluctant
 
LOL exactly, I'd rather pay a lil more for a connection that works
Anyone know what the realistic HSDPA speed for MTN is?

It often depends very much on your location. Some people have issues with VC in their area and then switch to MTN and vice versa. So possibly the best advice is to either rent or borrow a data card and buy some pre-paid sims and do your own testing from the location you intend to be at most.

I have been very happy with Vodacom for the past year now, but they have not been without their share of problems. I do however find that having someone from Vodacom actively partaking in the forum is a great help whereas the MTN guys who post here seem to come and go (IMO).

I would still check your coverage map and do some tests using pre-paid. I don't know if you are a gamer, but they seem to have problems with ping times and latency (Not sure how MTN fairs, but they have been complaining in the VC forum).
