I purchased this data offering with loyalty points intending to use it as a temporary measure while moving house.
This was in May. I received an MMS confirming the purchase and proceeded to use the data for an evening.

Surprise surprise...I receive a bill for out of bundle rates. I query this immediately and am told to wait until the end of the billing period. Query it again and the email comes back because the agent has now resigned. Query it with [email protected] and other than an automated response am ignored. Try the call centre and am cut-off every time a transfer out the IVR occurs. Perhaps because of the strike? Give up....

Then, Monday renew the contract and query this live at MTNSP Sandton. Request an escalation on the matter. Am told all will be sorted out....in time.

Receive an email today saying, "Kindly note that the loyalty bundles points is only for you to browse on the internet you can not purchase anything with them, that is why you were charged the out of bundle rate." WTF?

Try call MTN. IVR asks for my number. Enter number. "Your service has been suspended due to non payment" <engaged tone>

It's like they deliberately hide behind non-functioning systems and inept agents as a tool to derive (steal) additional income.

Afaik you need to dial *141*5# to active your daily uncapped bundle (throttled to GPRS-like speeds reaching 150mb [-_-] .....).
Not sure if this is the case for your contract, but likely.

Hope you sort this out.

Never had luck with this 24 hour bundle. Also got burnt.

I upgraded my contract and got a lte phone. I got lots of 3 data for 3 months. As i got adsl at home, I don't use much mobile data. Can i use the phone as a wifi hotspot, and use the laptop to browse and download. Will this data only work where 4G is, or everywhere.

I agree with Bond, rather use that R40 to buy 4Gigs of NiteData (1Gig x 4 at R10 each). Better than the rage evoking 128kbps throttle.

It should work anywhere you get a signal, whether it's GPRS, Edge, 3G or 4G. Just try it, you may need to change a setting or 2 on your phone,
