If you do manage to finally get this resolved before I am able to, please post the solution.

I use www.gamemax.org as my wow proxy, and this brings down my latency using MTN 3G to about 250-300 ms. However, my connection is only stable for about 5-10 minutes and I DC. Without using my proxy, WOW doesn't even want to log at all. And if it does log, 5 minutes and I get DC form server, with latency of over 700.

I am trying to get a response form MTN, but it is useless. If I don't get it resolved by Friday, i will switch over to iBurst. The reson I stayed MTN, is because it used to be stable and never gave any issues.

One of my friends are also playing on 3g but logged last nigth saying he has 3k ms was not playable.

I am kinda getting better ms since the patch dont know if its blizzard or did telkom improve somehow.
Had 280-360ms yesterday for more than 2 hours.
Never happened before.
Use to get 380-550
I am on adsl unshaped 4 mb line.

I started playing wow on 3g 2 years ago the latency was great.
400-600ms but after 1 year they just got bad so i had to get adsl.

Ok from what i can figure out it seems the DC occurs when the MTN 3G device changes from HSPA to 3G. Now it is the same signal so I have no idea exactly how it affects the WOW connection. I have sent an email to WOW Tech Support as well, as it seems there are people in other countries also having a similar problem.

Any feedback on a solution will be great. :)

you want a solution? try this. No matter what 3G/HSDPA device u use (Except if you use your cellphone), If you using the application that came with the device you have the option to choose what your connection must be. On default its set to HSDPA Preferred but will accept 3G and Gprs connections. Just set it to use HSDPA only and it should help. Mine never goes from turquoise to dark blue... dunno just my opinion.

I tried what you did Atsu, it still happens. No chnage at all. I think it may be best MTN sort out their issues fast, I can foresee a lot of people leaving their Data if they don't.

I'm using the application that came with my E220. Where do you find the setting for this?

It's somewhere under network settings, can't recall exactly but I'll have a look tonight and tell you exactly where to go.

Secondly I just want to add, I'm using Vodacom prepaid, and I buy data bundles every month. Now since the new patch was released, I've been getting super low latencies on my HSDPA connection. In fact my friend that's got 384k unshaped adsl had worse pings than me last night.

In fact, he had spikes of 1000ms mine stayed between 300 and 400ms lag even through Scarlet Monastery runs...

At first I thought this was just luck but yeah, it seems either Vodacom has brought there mobile internet up to scratch and the patch is just a coincidence, Or blizzard finally responded to the mobile internet users complaints.

If anyone knows something about this please elaborate. I'm considering canceling my ADSL order :D

I have same issues using MTN 3G. Since 3.0.8 I DC 10-20 times an hour :(
Neither of the 2 small update patches since the main 3.0.8 have had any affect. Still DC'ed last night 20+ times. And there seems to be no pattern, I can be solo questing, in a major city or in an instance and DC with the same frequency. Latency times are what they were before the 3.0.8 upate (400-600ms) and there is no spike before I DC...???
I will try the forcing of HSDPA setting suggested to see if that has any affect...
I've tried Vodacom and I don't DC at all but latency ranged between 250 and 4000!!! Not realiable at all :(

Well i have to say imo, Vodacom is way more reliable than mtn, My latency is way way better, and I dont get disconnected at all. Then again there's alot to take into consideration, like the location you at, what reception is there, and sometimes the weather also makes trouble. I must say tho, I've never heard someone using vodacom complaining about dc's... vodacom seems to be the better network latency wise and stability wise but as i said, thats my opinion.

I've been using Vodacom 3G for about 2 years now, had some major latency problems (but no Dc's) the past few months which seems to be fixed after the latest patch. While trying to fix my latency problems I decided to get a MTN starter pack aswell and test it for WoW. Funny thing is that on Speedtest.net MTN doesn't even come close to the download/upload speeds that I get on my Vodacom connection but the ingame latency on MTN is ALLOT better than on Vodacom.

OK, I tried looking for the HSDPA only setting and there isn't one in the connection settings for my E220 using Fastlink. Only
- 3G only
- 3G preferred
- Edge/GPRS only
It seems that HSDPA is in the same catergory as 3G.
I called MTN data queries on 1555 and they also state there is no way to select only 3G or only HSDPA and the signal will continue switching to the fastest connection available.
So what now?!?

I'm going to a MTN service centre next week wednesday to find out if there is anyway the specific sim I use can be kept on either 3G or HSPA. I've had problems with large emails also now with this 3G HSPA switching. If there is an option to jump there should be an option not to jump.

I've also send a email to blizzrd tech support on this so now its wait and see for me.

It mentions in the WoW Forums that you need SP3 for Win XP installed. I don't have it installed, however, some of you might have it installed. If not, and it DC, maybe try install SP 3, I will try it and also post feedback.

Other than that I have given up completely. I still get DC every 5-10 minutes. MTN of course denies that it is their fault, but they also are not any help at all in trying to solve the issue.

Once again the case of employing support staff that doesn't know squat about the service they are supposed to be providing.

I checked the signal on my Phone, and it happens when it jumps from HSDPA to Edge connection. The only difference is, when I am not connected, my signal has 100% constant HSDPA connection. As soon as I connect, it jumps around.
