Hi all,

I am not sure if this is perhaps an MTN issue or phone issue at the moment. I have 3G showing on my iphone 5 but it only seems to stay on for a few minutes
then it still shows 3G but I have no connection to any data.
I also can't seem to make or receive phone calls after losing connection.
I have rebooted and taken the sim out and put it back in, and then everything (phonecalls and internet) and then nothing again after a few minutes.

I have just rebooted again, and after a few attempts I have managed to make a phone call, but now seems as if the internet still isn't working despite 3G
showing.
I reset the APN setting and still no internet connection.
It has just changed to Edge now and when on Edge it seems as if I have got internet connection. Only seems to lose connection totally on 3G.
Any thoughts on how to get my 3G back?

Thanks

May be a silly question but the area you are in, does it have strong 3G reception? Also go into settings and turn LTE off - this has caused alot of problems for others when the iPhone tries to locate LTE but can't. Another trick which you can try is to go into settings and turn airplane mode on and the off again after a few seconds. But seriously tho turn LTE off if you don't get it in your area, will also save on battery power.

I have never had problems before with 3G in the area so I would imagine its got decent reception. I did turn LTE off earlier, but only because I had turned it on by accident this morning. It seems as if I have got no service when it is showing 3G, and all services work when its on Edge. Could it still be trying to locate LTE even if it's off. Perhaps when I turned it on this morning it still thinks LTE is on even though I did turn it off again a few seconds later.

Turn off 4G and change the APN under Mobile/Cellular Data to internet. Soft Reset the phone and see if that works.

I left the phone off now for about 30 minutes and then switched it back. That seems to have resolved it. All services seem to be working now on 3G. Hopefully it stays that way.

Thanks all for the help.
