I just received the following sms from my service provider (Nashua):

"From Nashua Mobile: MTN are enhancing their Network in the Jhb Area. All 3G services will be affected (down) from 29 Sep-2 Oct. Call 0860 412 412 for more info."

What is "the JHB area"?
What does "down" mean? Does it include EDGE? HSPDA?
Most importantly -- for how long? How will we be recompensed?

Please be more specific - does this mean it is currently down, my connection speeds over the last week have been diabolically bad, is it because of upgrades and when can i see improvements. I travel a lot and I am getting bad connection everywhere.

Good day,

I do apologize, our JHB base, meaning the will be affected in terms of not being able to use 3G or HSDPA, for GPRS and EDGE will still be available

Speeds have been bad and you will see improvements the speeds last night were very good bad they have been bad 3G/HSDPA will be back up on Monday at 06:00 will be down from around 06:00 on Friday morning

Hope this helps

Now if we could roll over what's left of our bundle to next month, the issue of compensation (studiously ignored) would not even arise.

Is it just coincidence that this is at the end of the month?

MMMMMM,

:)

MMMMMMMMMM???????????

Nice answer!

If we don't pay we get disconnected, listed as slow payers etc.

If MTN doesn't supply the service WE PAY FOR, we get a MMMMMMM?

And this sad excuse of a network upgrade taking so long breaks my heart!

Luckily for me VC always comes to my rescue!

As I said in another post - I had to use my VC sim to connect to this forum!

As I can't even send an email on MTN's so called 3G network... My connection is even slower that dial up!!!

Now that's funny!

Well carry over is a very good idea, weather it will be done or not I can't really say, I don't thing any of the other networks supply carry over at this stage but I'm sure it's something that is being looked into

Our connection has been a little slow and this upgrade should do the trick

Good day,

My apologies for the lack of correct English and punctuation, us techie's don't worry to much about that, but I'll ensure that I try harder to provide a more readable sentence in future, I was a little pressured at the time

My data bundle get reset on the 13th of each month (MTNSP). I thought this was the norm?

The only downside is, I was planning on using 3G at the rAge Expo NAG LAN. :(

As long as my tower gets the 3G treatment, I'll be a happy man - thanks for keeping us informed MTNDD.

Good day,

It is the norm but carry over bundles need to be looked at in my opinion, I really hope after this upgrade that our speeds should fly
