My nephew had a contract a few years ago. The contract expired and my sister cancelled the account. 2 Years down the line, the cell number he had is allocated to a new subscriber.

MTN, in all their wisdom, fail to link the account to to the new subscriber's bank account, but leave the number linked to her account. The new subscriber's account is being deducted from my sister's bank account. So she contacts accounts. This is how they sort it! They change the new subscriber's account name to her name. She contacts accounts once again. They tell her to cancel her debit order so that she is not billed for the account. She does that, only to have all accounts in her name suspended for non payment!

She then contacts accounts who re-activate the lines she subscribes to and promises to sort out the problem/ This month. MTN deduct 2 months payments for the new subscriber's account. She once again complains. Their response: They cancel my nephew's new number and retain the new subscriber's number on her account! I mean WTF! How incompetent can you get?

MTN must have the worst staff working for them! HTF can a major cellular provider operate this way? The new subscriber (I Phoned him) says he is not worried. 3 months free cellphone access, he is only too happy! Typical SA response. SO far, my sister has paid R2000 for a number allocated to someone else, yet MTN is too incompetent to sort out the issue.

I advised her to cancel her account with MTN and migrate it to a competent provider, My fear is that MTN wil migrate the old number to the new provider as hers.

Any suggestions. Glad I don't use MTN and will never reccomend their service to anyone!

MTN have some independ ombudsman to sort out customer complains, try browse the website to find the contact details.
