My contract expired at the end of January, and I have been trying to take out an Anytime 350 contract, but to no avail.

The problem is that I want it without a phone. They had a special in December for the Anytime 350 without a phone for R200 per month, and if I had done an early renewal I would have been fine.

Now I can't do it, so the only way is to cancel the contract and to go on MTN pre-paid, there are decent options there - but will they let me transfer the number to pre-paid ?

I ask these questions here, because in four months I have not had any joy from MTN SP Customer Support.

In fact, do they even have customer support, never had a response to anything ?

What about getting a voucher instead of the phone? At Autopage you can get various vouchers with your contract and they work well. Come as a debit card and you can use them anywhere where there is a card machine.

If you think MTN service is bad, you don't want to know about autopage. Go with prepaid, they will allow you to convert from contract to prepaid once your contract is over and if you see a good special in the future you can always go back to contract.

And how do you do this, MTN doesn't seem to have Customer Support ? Can't get hold of them.

Go to a shop, deal with a human face. Over the phone it's just not always possible. If you do consider dealing with a place, and if you can work with a specific consultant you know is good, deal with them and them alone. Let them organize it.

I have tried that a few times, the consultants were totally useless. Just can't get anything done.

For the life of me, I can't understand why the MTN share price is above one cent, their Customer Service is so bad.

But the service works OK, so if I can just get this issue resolved then it will be fine.

It's still available. Go here and select the UYO option. The Anytime 350 is R209 including CLI but excluding IB.

Just keep in mind if you use up the airtime then your call rate goes up from R1.95 per minute to R2.35 per minute.
On the Anytime 200 and lower packages it goes up to R2.85. Compare that to the prepaid all day rate of R1.70 per minute.

Note all of the above is per second billing.
