Hi guys ;)

I'm thinking of signing up for a MTN Anytime package, but I need some clarification.

According to this: http://www.mtn.co.za/FindaPlan/ContractAndTopUpPackages/Pages/contractplans.aspx?pkg=MTN AnyTime 100

I get the impression that a person can choose to have a TopUp Anytime contract or not? Is that so? For instance, can I choose to have an Anytime 100, but choose to make it TopUp based only?

Furthermore, is it possible to purchase a data bundle whilst on an Anytime Contract?

Those are the most important questions for now. Hopefully MTN will give me a call back, since I applied for a package on MTNSP and I'll get the phone and contract I want.

Thank you,
tera ;) :D :p

Hey dude, you're signing up with MTN at a time of, um, great billing turmoil and customer dissatisfaction, if you read the many other disgruntled threads on this forum or have your eyes swamped by the HelloPeter complaints against MTN which the company no longer even bothers to answer. Sure you wanna do this?

Yep :p

Can you use your allocated money to buy data bundle(s) or they will charge you extra?

Yes to all...no extra charges on top up...the monthly subscription is fixed

Cool, thank you very much.

I'm interested in a Nokia 5800 Express on an Anytime Package. The deal I applied for isn't a topup package however, would I be able to request that it be made a topup?

From MTN website, contract terms conditions:
Any services that incur a separate charge such as Itemised Billing, Calling Line Identity, SMS Bundles, Data Bundles, BlackBerry, migration charges, Me2U transfer charges etc. will not deplete the inclusive Airtime Value.

Which means? The inclusive airtime can not be used for bundles etc? :p

Hi i wanna get the Omnia on anytime 200. which is +-R290 a month will i be able to get the Omnia on anytime TopUp 200 at the same monthly cost?

Thanx :)

Careful of those anytime top up contracts. It gets advertised as the benefits of prepaid but on contract.bull dust.we are accumulating airtime on my wifes top up contract but we cant transfer the airtime to another sim with me2u.also,u cant u use ur existing airtime to buy a data bundle.its the biggest horse***** contract out there.theres no benefit of having a topup contract at all.

Your impression is correct, you can opt for the TopUp Anytime 100.

Yes you can purchase a Data Bundle on this, however, it has to be a separate purchase, _exclusive_ of your R100 airtime value which translates to 43 minutes, with 25 free sms.

You can only buy _one_ bundle per month in increments of 10Mb, 100Mb, and so on. I chose the 100Mb Bundle option which costs R80.00. There is a rollover over for sixty days, after which any left over Data will expire. :erm:

If you do not choose a Data Bundle you will be billed at R2.00 per Mb used for Data

With the Nokia 5800XM you _will_ use Data, great little phone, now going at R139.00 on AnyTime 100. Got mine while it was still at R149.00 for same deal :o

Enjoying mine, enjoy yours :D

Thanks man. Is MTN going to change the bundle options anytime soon? They'd have to IMO to compete. Weighing the costs and benefits I think I would still go for this contract, I can always make plans for data usage. Appreciate the help everyone, thanks Astound.

You also have the option to go for the Anytime 50 for R9.00 per month. Even though you cannot buy data bundles with the inclusive amount, the effective data rate will be less than 40c/MB. I also saw an advertisement for an Anytime 100 for R600 upfront and you get the 100 per month for 24 months - this will give you 50MB per month for two years - not to bad.

The Topup packages are "lesser" than the standard AnyTime packages. The package amount is a maximum, while the standard packages represents the minimum you will spend in month. Therefore, expect higher pay-in or higher monthly charges on the equivalent Topup packages.

Thanx gonna stay with Vodacom and go with the 5800 instead :)

Got a call from Tumi from MTN :p ;) :D She was very friendly, now waiting to be approved. Go on MTN, make me proud :D

Edit: Yay! Got approved today and I'm the soon to be owner of a new 5800XM :D
