So last month (circa 7 Feb), i receive my MTN invoice and itemised billing.
I should mention that I cancelled my 3g contract with these THIEVES in Jan 2014 because of similar dis-service.

the Pakcage i have with MTN is an MTN Anytime 500 package which includes:
R500 airtime
50 non MTN sms's and 450 MTN sms's
500mb's data.

I used less that the above (sms's and Data) but was charged for Sms's and Data.
I query this with customer care, no response.
808, - "we can't help with THIS query but will escalate it to the billing dept"
809 - "Escalated to Billing sir"
MTN Heron Place, golf park and REGIONAL SALES Manager (Roger Adams)- EVENTUALLY i receive a response last Thursday with a spreadsheet showing they "underbilled" in previous months (THEIR MISTAKE) so the Mistake they've made now, they refuse to give a credit.

To add salt to the wound, this morning I receive my March billing, and again, DATA and SMS charges even though i used LESS than the bundles.
I've now escalated this to ICASA, cc'd to MTN customer care (which I'm starting to doubt even exists), and the regional sales manager.

If this matter is not sorted by 25 March, i'm putting a stop order on the billing. No way I'm going to allow them to bill me for services I never received.
 
good on you mate. call them out. make it public, so everyone else can learn.


also stop messing around, drop your contract lower and get an Afrihost APN on your phone. dont send SMSes and use one of the million different VOIP services around.

I have had my MTN contract for 6 months now. I have never been billed a cent above the contract cost because I stick to those Rules, Afrihost APN MTN contract.
 
I have had similar problems with MTN. My contract was for R169 and then suddenly I noticed it went up to R199 every month! When queried this with them they told me it was because I had added a R10 monthly data bundle. I told them that was nonsense because the difference was R30 so what was the other R20 for? They had no answer. Cancelled my contract cuz I don't trust them anymore....

Think i am having the same issue. Wife contrac is on a anytime 350 package with 300mb free data a month. phone is setup to disable data @ 350mb. Was fine for the first few months, now her bill has gone from 399 to 1k / month. get 50 free sms, but they started billing from the 33 one. WTF is going on with MTN. Submit a query and they tell me that once all used u get billed, duh, i know that but the phone data tracker shows it used 311mb data but hit me with a R400 bill for data.

I am sure there system is fubar.:mad:
 
Just checked my un-billed invoice. I was told billing cycle is from 21-20 of a month. So get billed on the 16th for 86mb data and for voice calls, nothing charged for 17,18, 19,20. So either they got the billing cycle wrong or something else is up. Also found 1mb here and there being used at 1am , 3am, etc while in sleep mode. Phone has auto update off. It is also connected to wifi at home and work. Service from MTN online is always short. phoned 808 and the woman hung up on me. i was so fn:mad:

Seems like no one wants to help. I want them to pull all invoices from feb and rerun them.
 
Yip...moved over to VC as a result of MTN's BS - had a few go's at interpreting their mystery billing but eventually gave up.

VC is noticeably more expensive but at least their stuff works when I need it.
