MTN Black Friday Specials

Did you grab this from the store or online?

Online. The online store is outsourced to Mondo.co.za which is like a dealer for MTN or whatever. They called me. Went through the steps. Confirmed the router list which the sim works in and then said system did not auto approve me it was referred and that was the end of the call.

20min after that email saying approved. SMS after that to WhatsApp or email documents. Did that order sent to DSV delivery partner. DSV arrange delivery with me.

They didn't rica the sim so I did that myself to get online quicker. Sim active now.

No voice or SMS. Account spend limit auto set to R0. OOB Auto set to R0. Sim only works in the FLTE list of devices as soon as you put it in a phone or other router no internet. Only internet on 4G. Didn't test 5G as I don't have an approved 5G router.

You can set payment date and method via the MTN app. They have cool addon bundles in the app just like prepaid simcards.

Data share enables but can't add numbers so data share is not working. Interestingly it shows I will be due for an upgrade on 03/06/2022 so not sure what that is about.

Thanks. I called the store and spoke to someone who sounded super confused about the deal. I was told that the Anytime data is only valid for 30 days, no rollover...

Doesn't look like it rolls over. I specified debit order date on the 26th and that is when data get's allocated/expires looks like it.

It's not easy to understand the data allocations. They added so many to make the deal because the base package looks like the 30+30GB so there is so many promotional recurring allocations to make up for the rest of the data it's almost impossible to figure out.

Also doesn't look like it's location locked only device locked but will see.

Not too bad... according to this the base package is 75gb/75gb

Just need to route all YouTube traffic via this SIM across the home network - and win.

Whats strange is that the R199 deal is showing as 30gb/30gb as base for you @cavedog. It should be 50gb/50gb:

Is YouTube even in full resolution? The cynic in me thinks they are only offering YouTube data so they can shape your usage by offering 720p only on it.

Is there nowhere where one can see all these deals side-by-side? This nonsense of specific data for YT, WhatsApp, etc is really off-putting.

I need to provide my kids with around 100 - 200GB data per month since they'll be moving away and there's no fibre where they will live. This will be for a modem at a fixed location so I don't mind if it's tower locked. They'll still have their normal SIM's in their phones for when they're out and about. I need a similar package for myself as well so hopefully there's a way to have multiple SIM cards on one account.

This 240 GB is not bad, at least for me. I currently pay R100 for the 25GB vox lte data that my wife uses in the Gauteng Province. I have a second Vox lte sim (50 GB for R199) that I use in Nelspruit. I am considering this 240 GB for use in the Gauteng Province and then take the R299/300 GB vodacom deal to use in Nelspruit. I am just waiting for vodacom to call me back.

I got the 300gb deal and I am happy with the speed. I will be cancelling the 50gb/R199 vox LTE soon.

Just get the Voda 400gb deal. Tower locked and speed locked but should work fine for the most part
