Has anyone experienced outrageous charges for using a Blackberry on an MTN account while roaming? We recently had a bill over over R3000 when an employee spent 2 weeks in Namibia. On checking the itemised billing we could see that the device (Blackberry Bold) was connecting every 15 minutes during the night and for this we are charged R2.19 each time.
Apparently MTN charge in 25KB increments while roaming but as I understand it, Blackberry uses "push" email and the device should not be pinging the server to check for email at all.
I have been all over the place to try to get clarification from MTN. They clearly don't know and don't care.
