I phoned yesterdayday on two occasions to get my data on my new SIM activated, so I can start using GPRS. This SIM was bought ONLY for GPRS ... so it's irritating not to have it.
On both occasions I waited between 7 - 10 minutes, to be told 'sir, we don't do anything to the SIM. You must have the settings on the phone itself'. I tried explaining that I had all the settings requires (I had an MTN SIM with GPRS enabled before). Again, the agent informed it was the settings I needed and sent them to me. I didn't argue, as maybe the new SIMS didn't need activation out the box.
8 hours later, I still received the message 'GPRS failed' when I tried to access. This time I was sure it wasn't the settings, but rather the DATA ACTIVATION as I'd told the agent. After 7-10 minutes my call was answered by the same agent as before. I again tried explaing about data activation -and again received the same settings on my phone. I didn't have it in me to argue - and decided to try today (Monday).
In my lunch, I phoned the Prepaid data again (173 - option 5). I assumed the delay yesterday wouldn't happen again - as it was money and there would be more agents. Wrong! 13 minutes later someone answers, and asks for my cellphone number. Politely I tell her I'm not sure of it, as I go the card yesterday for data only. She tells me she doesn't know it either - and I should phone back. I say nicely that she should be able to see it ... as Vodacom has for the last 10 years, as well as FNB/ABSA call centres can see 90% of phone numbers (I worked there) - my number isn't even hidden or private! She gets arrogant with me, and tell me I should at least have my number on hand if I'm requesting help. I get agro, and tell her that I DON'T HAVE IT BECAUSE IT'S NEW - AND SHE CAN MORE THAN LIKELY SEE IT. Again she makes a cocky comment, and I hang up.
I still have no data activation/GPRS. At this rate, I'm have to set up an appointment to set this up. I hate MTN call centre.
