Mate of my sister who owns a Mtn store opened up yesterday to find 30 people at his door for a Mtn iPhone 6 deal at R100. He checks the system and lo and behold it's there, he sells about 200 of these till 4pm when the deal gets taken off the system. MTN picked up on the error but has to honour these deals.

I believe that Mtn got what it deserved. Karma is a bitch. It just sucks that sis only told me about it last night

Did anyone here manage to strike it lucky?

That's a STRIKING deal.

Well they too are increasing prices mid contract, who's to say they won't just increase this sometime in the future...

But well done to those who got it...

Wasn't advertised, it was a system glitch
If it wasn't advertised how did the people know about it? On which grounds should MTN honour the deal if it is contributed to a system glitch?

Word of mouth I guess? I was hoping mybb would get word of it and so the mybb community would also benefit

What stops them increasing the contract price next month as a system glitch?

I don't believe this unless I see the paperwork in black and white on MTN letterheads.

Highly doubt your friend had 200 in stock probably 6 or so.

That's what I was thinking. 200 is probably a quite significant portion of the country wide stock.

They might have signed 200 contracts but not necessarily gotten the phones immediately.

Well, I dont know how MTN works then, but we cant activate a contract/upgrade without the stock. We need to put in the IMEI number to complete the transaction. If the contract is not activated or the upgrade processed and the dealsheet gets removed due to a error than the deal cant go ahead.

Perhaps MTN does not have these control measures in place.

Dude at the local MTN store told me they haven't been processing contracts for the past 2 weeks since stores went on strike.
