Can anyone explain how the MTN 60 days thing works?

I bought 500mb last month on the 4th of September and I want to use it over 2 months (250mb per month).

I've got Iburst at home, since I'm not always home I use my laptop alot, its got a built in blue tooth so I might as well use my MTN phone and still keep it touch. Buying half a gig every month at R189 is friggin insane, I already fell that iburst is raping me now I'm starting to feel the same with MTN

Doen anyone have any advice about the MTN Data packages?

Thanks in advance.

I forgot to add that now MTN says on my phone that the data will expire on the 4th of October. So where the hell is the 60 days then? I contacted MTN help desk (173) and the woman on the phone said that I had to buy 10mb bundle so that the remaining data can now go other to this month with the 10mb bundle. It sounded strange but I did it, now it still says that the remainder of my data will expire the 4th of october and the 10mb will expire on the 4th of November. I contact them again and now they say that I broke a cycle and I have to stop using data bundles for 2 months so that I can have a new cycle, what crap is that?

60 days

i do the exact same thing as you - buy 500mb and spread it over two months. worked well for a while but on the latest bundle i purchased, like you i only got 30 days. but my previous 60 day period and a small part of the previous bundle (about 2mb) had not expired yet. what im going to try is buying the bundle after the old one has expired. if that doesn't work im switching to vodacom. they seem to have a true 60 day period. i think something got messed up on mtn's billing system and they have not fixed it, it was down when i called in to query the above problem. hope it works, if i have to get another sim the whole rica process will also have to follow as well as the inconvenience...

i realised their system tells u about the expiry dates of bundles that are already depleted...and lastly it will update on bundles that u currently have...dial 141 and listen carefully.

Thanks for the feedback.

They deleted my data as they said when I called them. They only gave me 30days. Guess I wont be using them anymore :(

Options for internet are really becoming a difficult thing. Its sad the state of internet, as long as the people as mtn, iburst etc can line their pockets and buy their big houses and cars we will always be the ones being milked for everything we've got. We keep waiting and waiting for better internet services but it just keeps getting worse.

Thanks again for the feedback,
have a nice week!

if that doesn't work im switching to vodacom. they seem to have a true 60 day period.
Vodacom data bundles last for up to 60 days.
They last from the date of purchase until then end of the next calendar month.
Buy on the 1st and you'll get close to 60 days, buy on the 30th and you'll get close to 30 days.
