Mtn data bill skyrocketed with no warning!

Hello.

Im not so clued up with internet, data etc.

But what happened, my father got a huawei usb stick with an mtn data sim. I think we have 500 mbs data monthly. The thing is I never used it till now when my wifi was down. I just needed it to access myunisa.

I placed the device in my pc, there was no program launch or even a startup page on explorer. Basically just open firefox n home page comes up. So I have no information on what has been downloaded or uploaded right. I have no idea how to access a log. They dont give any indication of how much data is being used.

I contacted altech autopage, they dont give a detailed bill. Then they email me a form I need to fill that will be sent to service provider requesting my itemised bill or something and will take 8 weeks. But at the end they say that the service provider is not obliged to give the information. So I may never even know.

I know u guys may be saying that im downloading a torrent. The laptop is being used by my nephews n he had something on. But when we investigated, the thing barely downloaded. So am I being charged for uploads as well.

Yes, you are charged for uploads, so that 500MB is for uploads and downloads.
